Is Giving Mucinex Advisable Instead Of Keppra For Nasal And Chest Congestion?
Yes, thank you. My mother is 88 years old and is on 5 mg once a dayMetropopal (spelling?) and Keppra 225mg 2x a day. She has had bouts with phlem in the past, but not for at least two weeks. today all day however she has filled a couple of baskets with kleenex blowing her nose and needing to spit. I didn t give her the metropopal tonight, because I have read online it can cause excessive phlem. I have read that Mucinex helps. Does it make sense to give her Mucinex and should I discontinue the Metropopol or Keppra until I reach the cardiologist? Is this considered an emergency? she takes no other meds, just vitamins. She says she just doesn t feel well, but her coloring is good and she has no fever. says she is feeling it is a little hard to breathe. Gave her Extra Strength Tylenol earlier because she felt achy, because she does have a broken shoulder and arm and she had OT/PT yesterday and the day before. Her doctor isn t good about contacting me on weekends. not feeling this is a true emergency.
