Is Giving Tamiflu Advisable For Sore Throat And Nasal Congestion To A Child?

My Son Had a sore thought yesterday, today he woke up unable to swallow and Inhaler was required. took him to ER, because 6am. they said he s got the flu. And gave use a script for Tamiflu. He has a sore thought, runny nose, and head ach. No nausea, diarrhea, chill s or temp. pharmacist said, The side effects are diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain. Is this a good idea?? I just need a second oppion

Hi Dear,

welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of sore throat and nasal congestion which is because of viral infection/ upper respiratory infection. It is due to poor immunity of body as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles three times daily. Taking decongestant nasal spray can also be relieving. Drink lukewarm water on daily basis. If you feel pain and discomfort in body or throat taking painkillers like Ibuprofen Or Paracetamol can be relieving. You should take hot milk boiled with half a teaspoon of turmeric. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. Doctor may order blood tests and x-ray chest. Doctor may order pulmonary function tests to detect level of infection.
