Is Glycerine Painful To Use With Garlic Oil For Ear Infections?
If I use glycerine - isn t that a prebiotic (glycerol)? Will glycerine kill beneficial bacteria in the ear or feed any pathogens? Is glycerine painful to use with garlic oil on ear infections? My daughter uses garlic oil, but there is pimple in her ear and wet wax doesn t seem to move, no matter how much olive oil I use. I can see the canal is swollen where the pimple is and slight redness near the ear wax which also may be trapping the infection. (I have already been to the doctors, but they want us to use antibiotics with steroids oral antibiotics, which I am against).
Garlic oil or olive oil and glycerol are not to be used in ear. They may increase the infection further. That small pimple in her ear may be any of the following: 1) Infected hair follicle 2) Pustule
Suggestions given by doctors to use antibiotics is the right choice to totally control the infection and to prevent damage to the ear. If the infection persists, there is a chance of it to spread into middle and inner ear and may cause hearing defects. Please consult an ENT surgeon and start using antibiotics as prescribed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
