Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is drinking several cups of green tea (supermarket kinds) as effective as taking a green tea extract. Weight loss is one goal, as well as prevention of disease, but I am 70 (play pickleball 3x/week and walk) and do not want to take something that a 30 year old fitness trainer would take. I also find green tea a little less enjoyable to drink than other teas. Is there a blend that is more palatable? Thank you for your time.
To be honest there is a lot things claimed tonredice weight and certain of them may work but no scientific evidence is there for them so we cannot advise about that.
The best thing for weight loss is still avoiding high calories diet like sweets, wheat and drinks and exercise. There is no harm in taking green tea or black tea until you observe diet and exercise.
You can always discuss with a dietician about your local foods and their calories value so that you may avoid foods with high calories. You can always search them online and calculate your daily calories I take and expenditure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
