Is Hands, Knuckles And Arm Swelling Due To Compartment Syndrome?

hi I was in the emergency room for a tissue and nerve damage in my wrist yesterday because my wrist swelled up very bad and when they released me they said to watch for compartment syndrome since then the swelling has moved up to my hands m=by my knuckes and down part of my arm...is this normal?
