Is Having Non Penetrative Sex With A HIV Positive Person Risky?

Doctor, My bf and I engaged in unprotected oral with a HIV positive male. He mostly performed oral sex on us but we did very little to him. We did perform rimming on the individual and had open mouth kissing. Later that week he disclosed his status and we were upset. He showed us his HIV medicine and promised he was undetectable. He was only taking one pill, which I thought was odd as I know it s usually more pills. What was the risk?

Hello dear user!
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns!
Thank you for sharing them on healthcaremagic.

The risk of getting HIV infection in your case is extremely low but not zero anyway. Oral sex with a HIV positive person in not longer considered risky from many sexologists. But in my opinion there are some conditions that increase risks in these cases and especially during mouth-penis intercourse. These conditions are mouth or genital sores, mouth gums diseases, gums bleeding. I'm not sure, and you are not too, about your friend viral load in his blood. Your would better have a HIV test about three months later from this experience, just to be sure.

I hope this answer was helpful to you!
