Is Having Thrush Possible If Breasts Pump Exclusively And Itching?
Hi my question is, is it possible for me to get thrush in my breasts from pumping? I almost exclusively pump because of latching issues and it appears I may have thrush. My baby does not have it. I have extreme itching to the point that it burns. Should I keep my baby off the breast? I would call my doctor but they are closed till Monday. Thank you.

Thanks for query.mostly breast pain is due to thrush.breatmilk with sugars and warm conditions create suitable environment for candida to grow. regardless of point whether it is due to pump or from baby's mouth.it should be treated.baby with oral thrush are generally asymptomatic.Treat nipple candidosis for 2 weeks using an antifungal cream after each feeding. The baby must be treated simultaneously with nystatin swabbed on all 4 gum lines and in the oral cavity, along with a few ingested drops, for 2 weeks. Babies may have no symptoms of oropharyngeal candidiasis and still be reinfecting their mothers. Careful hygiene is also important. Frequent changing and washing of bras in boiling water (along with anything the baby puts in its mouth, eg, pacifiers) is necessary. If candidosis of the nipple goes untreated, it may extend, and oral treatment for the mother may be necessary.yes expressed breast milk can be given to baby all these days .hope you got the answer.
