Is Head Injury Possible In An Infant Upon Tumbling Down From The Stairs?

Hi, about 6 hours ago my 20 month old fell down the stairs. She had climbed the stairs (6 carpeted stairs) by herself while I was cleaning up and By the time I realized where she was and came running, she had already started tumbling down. I can t get that horrifying image out of my head. She did a half barrel roll that turned into one front roll and landed on her back and skidded down the last 2 stairs. She had a slow nose bleed out of one nostril that lasted about 4 minutes. She cried right away which lasted about 10 min, and was tracking my fingers back and forth with her eyes. I haven t noticed any change in pupil size and just woke her up to check on her. She s groggy but woke all the way up. She fell flat on her face on concrete about a month ago and had a really bad nose bleed. I m concerned about the repeat head injury!

General Surgeon 's  Response
It is possible for an infant to sustain skull or brain trauma due to rolling down 6 stairs, even though carpeted. It may be wise to show her to a Neurosurgeon or a Pediatrician, who after examining the child may suggest an MRI scan.
