Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Headache Normal After Taking Increased Dosage Of Medication For Hypothyroidism?
I have been taking Armour for hypothyroidism since April...My doctor recently increased the dosage to 90mcg about 2 weeks ago. I have started getting a headache every afternoon. I know this is a side effect, but will this go away once I have been on it awhile?
Headache can be a side effect of Armour especially in the early days of initiation of treatment or increasing its dosage. This usually settles as your body adapts to the medication.
However, I would also recommend you to check your blood pressure daily, take adequate sleep. Taking plenty of water will help to settle it more quickly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Wajahat Baig, Internal Medicine Specialist
