Is Heart Murmur A Cause For Concern?

Yes I had a visiting nurse today from my insurance company at my home and she checked my heart with her stethoscope and said I had a heart murmur , this is the first time any one has said that to me as I just had my annual checkup with my primary doctor and she didn t say I had a heart murmur! Is that something I should be concerned about?

Appreciating a murmur during examination is quite a subjective thing,sometimes there is not really a murmur but due to tachy cardia or some other reasons an examining person can hear a murmur secondly talking about concern. well murmur is a concern or not depends upon the type of murmur.I would suggest you not to panic if there is no symptoms you can visit your doctor on next regular up visit and discuss your concerns till then you shouldn't worry much.
