Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I wore an event monitor for a month, it showed some episodes of abnormally high heart rates (169). Normally my rate is between 58 and 75. I am obese (working on this), have high cholesterol, triglycerides, and take Lipitor. It wasn t clear how they could tell if the heart rate was due to me climbing stairs etc. The nurse who called me said something about my heart chamber and asked if I wanted to take medication. I guess my question is what caused the high rate, what can I do, and how concerning is this? Thanks
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if this is the tachycardia of 169 beat per minuets with the history of high cholesterol then it needs to be investigated for underlying cause and best test would be ECHO, ECG and stress test without these nothing can be done hope this information helps.
