Is Heart Valve Replacement Recommended For Rise In ECHO Gradient Level?

My ECHO gradient went from 39 to 67 over the past year. I like to be athletic, participating in various distance triathlons, open water swims and running events. Is there a significant reason to Not have a replacement valve put in now, rather than keeping my heart rate and exercise level low and wait 6 months for another ECHO and possibly either have the surgery done then or repeat the low level of exercise intensity. Thank you!!! Are there (better) certain questions to ask my heart surgeon when I do see him? Thank you

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

You have not mentioned the valve which is affected. Whichever valve it is the gradient is high which will affect the forward flow from your heart and if the gradient continues across the valve, back pressure will develop in other heart chambers and will have further complications. So it is better to go ahead with a valve replacement / repair.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
