Is Heavy Bleeding Post IUD Insertion A Cause For Concern?
Hi, a few hours ago I had an IUD Marina inserted and the doctor warned me about spotting for a few days but she said it was just gonna be a little bit. I went to the bathroom and noticed that I m bleeding more than I should, it s more than when I have my period. Is it normal?
I have gone through your question and I understand your concern.
After IUD insertion you can have bleeding from days to a couple of weeks depending on how your body is adjusting to it. the bleeding may vary from spotting for weeks to heavy bleeding for a day or two.
Although contraceptives such as IUD have the side effect of causing irregular menstrual cycle, abdominal discomfort etc, I would recommend you consult your local gynecologist for detailed clinical evaluation and further management accordingly. Also if these side effects are bothersome for you even if everything appears to be normal you can opt for an alternate method of contraception for future.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. Wishing you good health.
