Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am positive for hep c. Had severe hep in 1991. Presently Riba and Rna testing show virus innactive. Am I contagious to babies or other people through saliva or eating utensils. Mainly, can my grandchildren be infected by me. I am extremely concerned. My daughters pediatrician told her it WAS possible. Please help me!!!
Hello, Thanks for posting in HCM. The main mode of transmission of hep C virus is through blood. So blood Transfusion, sharing sharp objects like razors can transfer. Also household things like sharing tooth brush or towels can have slight chances of sharing. Sharing same food or utensils wont transmit hep C. Your grandchildrencan get hep C only if they come in contact by any method with your blood because it is purely blood transmitted disease. I hope i have answered your query well. If you have any more query kindly write back to me. Thank you
