Is Hernia Surgery Recommended For A Heart Patient?
My husband is 51 and he has a weak heart at 20% he has had amputations on both feet. diabetic and has had 2heart surgerys both for aortic valve.his kidneys are borderline function, and his liver is weak.now he is dealing with a hernia and gallstones.will he be able sustain surgery for his hernia.
Welcome at HCM I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns. Hernia surgery per se is not a contraindication . The problem comes with the anesthesia. As he has got a weak heart so hernia should be managed conservatively. If there is need for surgery then it should be performed on local anesthesia. meet your surgeon for proper management. Meanwhile stay calm . Get well soon Hope your query is adequately addressed if you still have any feel free to ask Regards Dr Saad Sultan
