Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, An ex partner of mine has a herpes scare and went in to get tested and her results are not back yet. I am a female as well and I bus went to the dermatologist because I was there and she took a look down there and said everything looks good and she says nothing noteworthy. If I wanted to have sex tomorrow and I don't have an outbreak (if it happens to be that I do indeed have herpes) will it infect the other person?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it is true that Genital Herpes caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 2 is a contagious infection and in case if you are infected you can transfer it to your partner by intimate contact.. But as you have not got any outbreak till date as well as the dermatologist could not see any lesion or any sign of outbreak, you need not to worry as there does not seems any infection and the chances of transmission are negligible even if you have some numbers of virus in the blood too as a sufficient concentration of viral count is necessary for infection.. Therefore as of now you does not seems to look contagious to transmit infection to your partner by sexual contact..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
