Is Herpes Transmission Possible Through Contact With Infected Fluid Of A Ruptured Cold Sore?
Hello, so i have an active cold sore and as I was looking in the mirror it popped and the ooze got on the mirror. I quickly wiped it off with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth and then wiped my whole mirror with windex w ammonia. My husband touched the mirror about 10-15 mins later and I have anxiety thinking about it. What if it was transmitted to him? I’m afraid. Can you please answer. Thanks.
Active cold sores are definitely contagious and individuals with active cold sores should avoid intimate contact with a partner as well as others to avoid spreading. But once the virus particles come in contact with air, they can't survive for long and dies.
So your husband is safe and is not infected as he touched the mirror after cleaning as well as 10-15 mins later. So do not worry as he is not at a risk and is completely fine. But you need to take a proper antiviral course of medicines like Acyclovir to resolve infection faster.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
