Is Hospitalisation Necessary While On Augmentin And Redipred For Inflamed Tonsils?
My doctor says my 6 year old daughter has viral tonsillitis, there is no puss but very inflamed. My daughter has been spitting mucus very much, the doctor says that she is struggling to breath. She said when the Urvula touches the tonsil we should take her to hospital as she may need a tube. It touching now, should I be concerned, shoud I go to hospital? She has prescribed Augmentin for the ear infection and Rediped for the inflamed tonsils. Should we just wait it out..

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Her doctor has advised her to continue with medication. Still if there is no improvement in one day dose, I would suggest a test for COVID-19, especially in these days of pandemic. Till then continue with the medicines prescribed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
