i am 30 years old, 5'9" and 155 lbs and exercise regularly. I have never had any health concerns. I went for a wellness examine and told my dr. my parents had both had hyperactive thyroids. He felt my thyroids and said they felt large and ordered blood work and an ultrasound. the ultrasound will be an out of pocket expense for me and my question is that if my blood work comes back fine, am I logical in thinking the ultrasound is a waste of time and money for me.
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Hyperactive thyroid is hereditary. But not seen in every case. Many have normal thyroid with family history.
If you don't have enough money then you should go for thyroid hormone test only. It will give you most of the idea. Then if needed go for ultrasound thyroid according to need. You can wait for that. There is no harm in that.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
