Is Hysterectomy Advisable For Fibroids Causing Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding?
In USG it is found that i have two ovarian cysts measuring 3 and 5 cm. about and uterine fibroid measuring about 8 cm and 5 cm. i am now 42 years. i have continuous bleeding (not severe) for last 1 month. I have continuing my office with this. there was no inconvenience for me. I have gone to gynaecologist and according to his prescription i have taken 6 PRIMOLUT-N tablet for 5 days and 3 of the same for 3 weeks. He also suggested to me to operate and do the hysterectomy as soon as possible. i have a 9 years old boy. what do you suggest?
Hello, Thanks for letting us know your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer you some suggestions. 1.Your ovarian cysts and fibroids are larger in size and need active management given the fact that you are experiencing continuous bleeding. 2. If you wish to retain the uterus, you can go for myomectomy and ovarian cystectomy. Other options available are MRI-guided focused ultrasound surgery, myolysis, uterine artery embolization, endometrial ablation etc. Hysterectomy would be the last option. Whatever the procedure, hormones can be of much help to control the bleeding prior and improve the general condition. Hope your query has been answered. Wish you good health.
