Is Immunotherapy Effective In The Treatment Of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma?

Can immunotherapy be used to treat either instead of chemo, or in combination with chemo for Invasive Ductal Carcinoma? Left breast- Positive Estrogen and Progesterine, HER2 negative. Ki-67 60% 60. I have a high risk family history of breast cancer. One doctor suggests surgery prior to chemo and radiation - he scoffed when I asked about immunotherapy. The second doctor suggests chemo prior to surgery and radiation. I didn t ask her about immunotherapy. I have since learned that it can be used for certain cancers. Could it be used with IDC either in place of chemo, or combined? I was diagnosed late March. I am an otherwise a healthy 60 year old. I was doing natural body building up until 4 years ago. I regret I stopped the intense workouts and strict diet. Sugar is my enemy. I have totally cut it out now and I m ready to go back to my trainer. I ve lost a ton of muscle. I m surprised that doctors are telling me I appear to have good muscle tone. I guess it depends on where who you re comparing me to. Thank you for your help.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my surgical experience, the immunotherapy can not replace the role of chemo or radiotherapy in ERPR positive breast cancer therapy. And as an adjunct therapy also, there are no promising data to support the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
