Is Impaired Balance While Walking Progression Of Familiar Tremor?
When I was 17 I began to have tremors in both hands which were quite noticeable. My father took me to a psychiatrist since this was at the same time as my parents were divorcing in the 1940 s and we knew no other divorced people so it had a traumatic effect on me. That doctor had no answer and the shaking continued into my adult life to age 40 when I finally saw a neurologist who diagnosed it as essential or familial tremor. I have been on propranolol and topomax (together they treat the tremor and super ventricular tachycardia). The STV is completely under control. Not the tremors. And for the past year or so, I ve felt unbalanced when I walk, sometimes. My legs seem a little shaky, sometimes. Could that also be from essential/familial tremor? Is that a disease that progresses? Mine began when I was 17 and I am now 84 years old. What should I be doing at this point? What might I expect as I continue to age
