Is Inability To Bend The Thumb Post Treatment For Fractured Wrist A Cause For Concern?

Hi - I'm 8 months past fractured wrist (distal radius) with plate inserted. An hour ago my thumb stopped bending at the final joint (just under thumbnail). Obviously very concerned - guess I should see my surgeon urgently? Hoping nothing permanently damaged inside?

Thanks,
Mike.

Hi welcome to HCM
Dear Mike , though your inability to bend the thunb , is a matter of concern but no need to worry . It is natural to face difficulty , one or the other , after treatment for fractured part .
A little exercise - bending in front and back and rotating clock wise and anti clockwise will help movement . Start from slow to fast motion . Massage with little oil helps movement to your thumb and strengthen even to fractured wrist

It is advised to see your surgeon for further guidance .

Hope this helps solves your query .Take care .All the best .Wish Get well soon .
Don't hesitate to come back in case of any further query .
