Is Inadequate Amniotic Fluid And Umbilical Cord Wrapped In Baby Neck Dangerous?
My wife is 35 weeks 5 days and yesterday in the Ultrasonography reports shows not adequate amniotic fluid and umbilical chord wrapped in baby neck. please suggest whether it is critical. Dr prescribed .. Argiprime Sugar free Sachet dails once and one ingection Betnesol.
Thanks for contacting HCM. Inadequate amniotic fluid can turn in a medical emergency. You have not mentioned AFI values which decide the severity of amniotic fluid deficiency. If the fluid levels become too low, baby can come in contact with uterine wall leading to attempt at breathing and intrauterine fetal death. Cord around neck can asphyxiate the baby during delivery. your doctor has given your wife arginine to improve baby's weight and amniotic fluid, but this is empirical, as it may or may not work. If baby's weight in USG is normal for gestational age you can go for elective cesarean section delivery in interest of both mother and baby. regards and best wishes.
