Is Increased Sleep Normal While On Remeron?

My 94 year-old mother has just been started on Remeron to improve her appetite (she has been losing weight that she can t afford to lose while she says she s not hungry or that she s full after eating very little). She also takes a very low dose of depacote to control night-time restlessness. Immediately after starting the remeron she began sleeping a lot more during the day. She has had two doses. Is this behavior normal? Can the Remeron and Dpacote drugs interact?

Hi,

She seems to have developed harmful interactions between Depakote and Remeron. I advise you to consult her treating doctor to adjust the dose of the medications or to prescribed an alternate effective medication to treat her problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
