Is Increasing The Dosage Of Methadone Safe For Chronic Pain?
My son aged 44 year has been taking methadone 5mls in morning and 7mls evening for severe pain caused by wegeners granulomotosis, kidney failure, spinal stenosis, and now ulcerated legs up to his groin. Is it safe to increase his dosage of methadone to alleviate his intense pain.?
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM Methadone is an opioid medication very effective in managing pain. With a past history of renal failure, increasing dose without close monitoring by his Doctor will not be good.I will suggest you see his Doctor for reevaluation before a dose increase. However, increasing dose or frequency of administration may be considered. Hope this will help Best regards
