Is Infertility Inevitable For A Woman Suffering With Hepatitis A And B?
I just found out I have hep a and b even though I haven t been sexually active since May and have been tested twice since then with no positive results. I just got tested again a few days ago and got positive results. I have an iud- should I be concerned about infertility?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Hepatitis A is a self limiting viral infection of the liver. It is not known to cause much complications. But, Hepatis B is associated with cause of complications and it can be passed from mother to fetus during pregnancy. Hence, you need to be treated with antiviral drugs and interferon's to check the disease and prevent complications. It does not directly affect your fertility. If you need to conceive, it would be better to consult Gynecologist with your reports for proper advise and then decide about the pregnancy weather to go for it or not. Also there is a strong possibility that you would infect your partner. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
