Is Ingestion Of Old Vyvanse Pills Illegal?

Hi, I have a question regarding old prescriptions- I have an old Vyvanse prescription, I stopped taking it a long time ago because it kept me up at night; that was the only problem I had with it, otherwise it worked great for my ADHD. However, I work night shifts now, and decided to resume taking the medication. I still have some old ones left, so I started taking them (as prescribed) and plan on seeing a doctor next week to renew my prescription. *However, I just got randomly drug tested at my work, and the thought occurred to me- Could they and would they fire me, legally, for testing positive on a substance that I DO have a prescription for, though it is an old one?*

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, of course, a recent prescription is always required for these drugs. Otherwise, they could have been used for the purpose which they have been intended to. So please see your doctor and have a prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
