Is Inhaling Bleach During Pregnancy Dangerous For The Fetus?
My husband pored bleach into the toilet and let it sit before cleaning, I walked in there without knowing and inhaled it. I immediately ran out as it made me start coughing, I m currently 30 weeks pregnant just wondering if that would harm baby. Has me a little shooken up thinking about it
As per my clinical experience, accidental exposure to bleach for a very short period of time during 3rd trimester of pregnancy does not pose any major threat to fetus due to following reasons. There is placental barrier which would prevent noxious gas substances from passing through maternal side to placental circulation. Immune system of the mother itself will filter out the noxious particles from the mother blood circulation immediately and coughing is the response through that only.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
