Hi Doctor Is it safe to take Avil for cold? Hello Doctor, 1. I used to take Avil 25mg for my cold... is it good... some says the tablet causes problems. 2.For me cold starts with Sneezing many times, sore throat (pain in throat) and goes to running nose...
You are having upper respiratory tract infection which needs to be treated properly. Avil can be used for symptomatic relief of running nose but it causes sedation. Better alternative is levocetirizine. Advice 1. Azithromycin 500 mg daily per oral daily for 5 days 2. Levocetirizine 5 mg daily per oral for 7 days 3. Avoid Avil 4. Do gargle with every 8 hours with betadine gargle liquid 5. Avoid dust, smoking, alcohol, dry environment, cold and spicy food If you do not get relief from above measure then consult an ENT specialist for general examination of your nasal passage and ear. I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thank
