Is Intake Of Percocet Advisable During Pregnancy?

Hi I m 37 weeks pregnant and have been having terrible back pain to where I can t even move my friend who is also pregnant gave me a few of her percocets since they ate prescribed to her I figured it would be ok now I was told by a family member that they will drug test the baby s meconium and that it will show up and cps will take the baby I m not a drug addict I made a mistake of not thinking or researching and I m terrified that my child will be taken will the percocet be in the baby s system and if this is true what steps do I need to take to ensure that my child is not taken

Hello, I really appreciate your concern. If you are not chronically addicted to Percocet then there is very low chances of detection of drug in meconium testing. So do not worry. But please do not take percocet once again for pain relief. You can use acetaminophen for short periods for pain relief. This kind of rule is set up because percocet use in mother during pregnancy leads to severe withdrawal syndrome in neonate. So please use certain precautions while using drugs during pregnancy.
