Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Intake Of A Sip Of Bleach Water By A Toddler A Cause For Concern?
My grandaughter took a sip of bleach water that was for moping the floor. She is only 3 so I don t know if she knows what she is saying other than she did not like it. I could not smell it in her mouth. Would just a sip harm her. There was not a lot of bleach in the water.
As per my clinical experience, the effects of sip of bleach water by toddler matters with the clinical symptoms at present. The absence of symptoms except bad mouth taste indicates that there is no therapy required except observation. The following features need to be addressed at an ER visit like: - Persistent nausea, vomiting - Abdomen discomfort - Breathing problem or taking deep breaths than usual - Flushing face or body - Raised body temperature - Irritability or mood swings
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
