Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Weight loss will happen when the amount of calories that is used is more than the amount consumed.
Yes, going to the gym and doing a variety of training programs and more importantly being consistent will help you lose weight.
Your fitness level must be checked and along with the BMI (
body mass index), BMR(
basal metabolic rate) and weight reduction goals a exercise program should be planned. A fitness instructor can help you with this.
Ideally, start slow with cardio exercises (these are dynamic exercises that utilize oxygen and burn fat), these are then increased in intensity gradually.
Strength training, weights will help with more consistent weight loss by building and toning healthy muscles.
Suggestions :
- watch what you eat. Maintain a dairy with everything you eat and their calorie value.
-stay away from sugary, carbonated drinks and deep fried, oily & fatty foods
- have whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts/seeds (in moderation)
-switch to healthy oils like canola.
-exercise outdoors when possible.
-stay well hydrated. Frequent sips of water through out the day.
Dehydration interferes with fat
metabolism.
- based on your daily calorie requirement, reduce about 300 calories in intake and try to burn 300 more by exercise.
-take the stairs. Go for quick power walks for 10-15mins 2-3 times a day.
-get good sleep
-do not skip meals, especially breakfast.
-aim for 3-5kg lost in the first 2 months. This will reduce to 2-3kg a month after ward.
Monitor your
thyroid every 3 months. Ideally TSH should be between 1 & 3 while trying to conceive.
Start your
folic acid supplement.
Weight loss, even 5-8 kg may help with PCOS and to Conceive.
Best wishes.
Hope this helps.
