Eating 1 doughnut a day, is it OK if the doughnut contains 5 grams of saturated fat ? Since the daily allowance of saturated fat is 20 grams (per 2000 calorie diet ) and the daily allowance of cholesterol is 300 milligrams per day, wouldn't it be just fine for me to eat 1 doughnut per day? My do not contains 5 grams of saturated fat, 0 cholesterol and 0 trans fat, and 7 grams of sugar. I mean most people consume more saturated fat and cholesterol than this in a chicken sandwich or serving of fish don t they? Down at the hospital everyday I see Patients with cardiovascular problems or who are overweight eating Much worse things than a doughnut (Hamburgers with cheese, fried chicken, sausage links, eggs with yolk, bacon, real butter) I mean they eat these type of foods day in and day out. Not to mention all the fat cops in the doughnut shops popping one doughnut after another. If it s so unhealthy why is the Daily allowance 20 grams of saturated fat and 40 grams of sugar per day ?
