Hello Dr. , my 7yr old son has developed scattered white patches of hair on head and also faded patches on skin around back of neck and forehead ...Is it Poliosis? He is very intelligent, active and healthy . whats the treatment and how much time it will take to cure completely? I applied hydrocortison prescribed by dermatologist for 10 days , then 2 weeks gap without treatment and then 10 days with treatment.(as told by her) but it is not showing any result .but disease is spreading with more and more white hair I m very worried .plz help!!
Thank you Dr... but the skin also has decolouration in small patches ...could it be vitiligo ? does vitiligo affect hair as well ? The patches on skin are not white or even pinkish but slightly lighter than the normal colour of the skin ...but its quite visible...is it the onset of some major problem and should be controlled in the initial stage itself?
hello,
Your son is having both white patches of skin and whitening of hair ie both poliosis and vitiligo.Consult any good dermatologist and ophthalmologist because some syndromes with poliosis and vitiligo are associated with eye disease.
