Is It A Matter Of Concern To Have A Red Bump Which Is Not Painful On The Breast?

Hello I m male 24 years old. i wanted to ask you, just few minutes ago while showering i noticed a small lump on my right breast just next to my nipple. I don t know is it like acne, cyst or something else. It showed up like in last 48 hours before i didn t noticed it. it doesn t hurt, just a bit hard. surface is maybe a bit red, but maybe because i was touching it. Should i be worried about this and get checked up by doctor or wait for a couple of days and see if it will disappear. Thanks.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

With an acute onset the bump-like structure could be an irritated hair follicle, which is common on and around the nipple/areola complex.

But it is impossible to diagnose any presentation on the surface of the skin without a physical examination, so please do visit your doctor if this lasts for more than 7-14 days. For now, do not touch the structure, apply warm compresses several times a day and wear comfortable inner wear in order to avoid further irritation of the structure.
