Hi. I went hunting about a week ago and the next day I noticed a red bump right under my left ear. I assumed it was acne. But now a week later I have 5 or 6 bumps and they are all ichy. They aren t huge sores, but they look identicle to acne. What might that be?
Well, from your explanation as you said you were outdoors for hunting, then there is a possibility that you are bit by some bug or insect leading to an itchy bump that has not increased in number. The poisonous substance that is released from the skin can cause a localized allergic reaction under the skin and lead to itching and bumps. Continuous scratching to relieve the itch can further lead to infection and inflammation.
For now you can apply anti-itch ointment over the bumps like Caladryl lotion and can also apply ice packs to reduce itching as well as inflammation. If the bumps are increasing you can apply Hydrocortisone ointment but be precise to apply exactly over the bums and do not use more than a week.
Avoid scratching the bumps too much as it can cause infection. You can also take anti allergy medicine like Levocetirizine (if you are not known allergic to it) or similar anti-allergics if the itching is severe. In case if still the bumps continue to spread or the itching does not get better, get checked by a Doctor clinically.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
