Hi,

The reason behind the weaning of the baby of of NAN is to keep her on breast feeding mode, as the baby grows the baby will tend to avoid breast feeding since the feeding from breast will be bit more harder then a bottle feeding . But as we know that breast feeding till at least age of 6 months and may be continued to a 9 months has advantage for having an antibodies from mother's milk protecting the baby from harmful microbes till the baby's immune system will be able to develop antibodies on its own successfully (usually it occurs after 6 months).

Hence, weaning the baby from NAN will help to keep baby continuing breast feeding and her immunity will be better. It is advisable to have babies breastfeed as long as the mother can. Mother milk is the best option to transfer antibodies to strengthen the baby. The recommendation by a pediatrician is in the best interest of the baby in multiple ways.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
