Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my son is due to have the Diverticulum operation any time soon to remove a small pouch in the small intestine, but after reading the comments from people what they are suffering after the surgery I m wondering whether he should go ahead and have it done.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history about your son having diverticulum in small intestine and is being planned to have an operation any time soon. Wants to know whether to go for surgery after reading comments from others that are suffering after surgery. Since the dierticulum is not a normal part of the intestine, it has the potential to go into complication of infection and so on any time. If the patient is prepared well, Hemoglobin and serum proteins are well managed this surgery is a normal surgery and the results are always good. Find a Gastrointestinal Surgeon and this will be successful. Actually the rate of complications is too low with the advent of newer machines, techniques and safe anesthesia.
