Is It Advisable To Take Percocet After Tooth Extraction?

I just had a tooth removed today and was given Norco. I took one about two hours ago and the pain is really getting bad. I did have the gauze on for several hours, and at one point a blood clot came off with the gauze. Could I already have gotten a dry socket , just a few hours after the surgery? Can I take a percocet now to try and get some sleep?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain first of all the gauze has to be kept pressed over the extraction socket only for maximum one hour and the pain at present is not due to dry socket but is due to inflammation that is a common finding after tooth extraction..
Nothing to worry and continue taking Narco as it will relieve your pain..
You can also take TRAMADOL as it relieves severe pain..

But the other thing that has happened is the clot dislodgement and as the clot has dislodged there will definitely be Dry Socket formation that will be further a painful condition after 4 to 5 days..

You should immediately consult your dentist and get evaluated so that if the clot is dislodged he can place a zinc oxide eugenol dressing in the socket that has to be changed every alternate day till considerable healing takes place..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
