Is It Advisable To Take Coversyl And Norvasc Instead Of Cardace And Nikoran?
I have been prescribed to take cardace 10 mg and nikoran 5 mg after my by pass a few years back. I am now in Qatar where these two are not available. The suggested alternatives are Coversyl (5 mg) and Norvasc (5 mg). Are these ok ? Are these the best substitutes ? What dosage is best ? Thanks and regards Sam
Yes, it is advisable to take coversyl and norvasc instead of cardace and nikoran. Coversyl and norvasc are considered to be effective alternatives to cardace and nikoran for the control of high blood pressure. Coversyl may be started with 2.5 mg once daily along with norvasc 5mg daily and the blood pressure should be periodically monitored to check their response. If blood pressure is not controlled with the initial doses then the coversyl dose may be increased to 5mg.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
