Is It Advisable To Undergo Surgery For Removing Colloid Goiter?
Hi! My endo advised me to have my colloid goiter remove by undergoing surgery. Ultrasound findings: Left lobe of thyroid gland measures 5.6 x 2.9 x 3.9cm due to a complex solid mass lesion with systic spaces occupying the upper and lower third of the lobe. It measures 2.7 x 3.7 x 4.3 cm (previously 3.1 x 3.7 x 3.9 cm). Is there another treatment which could address my goiter? Should I undergo surgery? Is there is a chance of the enlargement to turn into cancer in the future? Many thanks
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have colloid goiter wiyh cystic change and its complex mass. There is chance that it can turn in to papillary carcinoma of thyroid. Moreover drugs will not help you in this case. So you should go for surgery. Hemithyroidectomy should be done. Consult your doctor and plan accordingly. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
