Is It Advisable To Withdraw From Lipitor Post Heart Stroke?

I have recently been put on 40mg Lipitor (for month and a half now) after having a stroke (at 50 yrs old) during some police training where they compressed my carodid neck artery. I HAD a total cholesterol of 227, HDL 54 and and LDL 156 triglycerides of 84. My last labs just came back with 99 Total, 70 tri, 41 HDL and 44 LDL. I am also on 10mg lisinipril and 70mg plavix. I have been brisk walking 4-6 miles almost everyday for a month and am down to 173 from an initial 210 lbs. I want off Lipitor, how do I convince my Doctors without making them made, or do you agree I should be on it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Take Lipitor everyday because it reduces the overall incidence of strokes and the cardiovascular events, despite a small increase in the incidence of hemorrhagic stroke. Before you stop this medication, consult with your doctor!

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
