Is It Alright To Have Wine While On Metronidazole 400mg?
I have just been prescribed Metronidazole 400mg 21 (one tablet 3 x daily). My first question is, will I have a problem if I had 3 glasses of wine last night? The secon question is, on the packet it said to take with or after food but the website said the the medication should be taken a few hours before or a few hours after food?

Hi,
You may experience symptoms due to alcohol, ie disulfiram like reaction. That depends on the metabolizing enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase present in you.
Take with food/after food to reduce gastric discomfirt with metronidazole.
