Is It Common To Experience Pain After A Appendectomy?

Hi. I m on my 13th day post op from TAH/SO/appendectomy. Diagnosis if stage 1 (thank God) mucinois ov ca. Have a verticle incision and I m 60---- is it typical to have occasional stabbing pain to a couple areas on the right side? Bowels are doing good. Thanks!!! Mitzi

Yes. The scar contraction can occur for few weeks after the procedure. However, if this pain is severe, and or accompanied with dull more whole abdomen like pain, or associated with symptoms such as constipation and or blood on stool presentation, you may need to worry about surgical complications. I would call the surgeon's office who performed this procedure and ask their advise just to be safe; and have multiple medical opinions. Warm Regards :)
