Is It Essential To Perform D&C To Clear Out 6 Weeks Old Dead Fetus With Bleed And Chunks Of Red Tissue?

Hi,

I was 6 weeks 6 days pregnant, the fetus was 3.5 mm at my last ultrasound on The 1 7th of December This year. I started to have cramps on Monday night the 23rd of December.

I have notced spotting on the morning after that continued all day. I called my doctor at 11 am he told me to visit him ASAP, once I got there he did an ultrasound to found that the the baby hasn't developed and no heartbeat was found... He advised me to wait 48 hours before performing an D&C.

Last night I started to bleed and chunks of dark red tissue came out, I had a cinnamon tea, terrible cramps started, my mom went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist gave her Primolut nor to help with the cleaning of my womb. ..

Heavy bleeding started and the chunks of tissues came out and the bleeding decreased. .. Do I have to perform an D&C and what are the risks of not doing one or is okay to take antibiotics and and continue with Primolut nor for 3 days?!!!

Ps: I'm O- and my husband is A+... When should I take an anti-d shot? !

Please help.

If I were your doctor, I would perform one review ultrasound to exclude any retained products of conception, and depending on its report would decide further action of going for a D & C or otherwise.

The anti D should be given any time in 72 hrs of miscarriage/pregnancy and possibly till the 10th day of the episode.
