first, yes you are right, the
drowsiness may indeed be due to the medicine she is consuming. and the mental slowing down, like not being interested in studies may be its result too
as for the duration, the usual pattern is to continue medicines for at least 3 years before stopping
however the cause of
seizure is not clear from the query. if it was relatively treatable cause, the medicine can be discontinued, else it may need to be continues
since a seizure is not a good symptom and makes the patient accident prone, i would suggest you to meet your
neurologist especially for following things-
a. change medicine/dose of current medicine
b. is it safe to stop the medicine- keeping in view the cause of seizures
