Is It Harmful To Use Salicylic Acid As Face Wash For Skin? Does It Cause Skin Darkening?

Hello Doctor,

Please tell me can use of salicylic acid 1% as a face wash be harmful for skin. Does is cause skin darkening ?. I get acne occasionally and hair a fair plus oily skin, so is it recommended to use salicylic acid 1% as a face wash. How regularly should i use it, incase you recommend it.

Hi,

Salicylic acid containing face wash is recommended for oily and acne prone skin.

It is harmless ,if used cautiously.

If you feel oiliness on face, you may use it.

Use it lightly and twice or thrice a day.

If you feel dryness , you avoid it.
