Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 52 year old i have been taking SEVISTA- containing Ormeloxifene hydrochloride for 2 years for menorrhagia after which my bleeding stopped under the advice of my gynaecologist. after stopping sevista (6 months back) the bleeding has once again resumed. the cause of my menorrhagia was uterine fibroids. can i resume taking SEVISTA again. is it safe to use this drug for more than two years duration???
Ormiloxifene is estrogen antagonist. estrogen excess in body causes uterine fibroids leading to excessive bleeding. if you are taking the drug for more than 2 years you need to consult your doctor and then restart. if the reason for your excess bleeding is fibroid, that needs to be removed surgically by your gynaecologist. so please approach your gynaecologist and proceed
thank you
