General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, Thank you for the query. I understand your concern. Sevista is an estrogen receptor modulater & is used for family planning/ control of FUH.( heavy menses ). Sevista is not known to have side effects except for causing delayed menses... but since you need to take it continuously for control of bleeding., I feel instead of taking it for a long run, you are advised to get consulted by a gynecologistwith investigations ( USG/ endometrial biopsy,) to know basic cause & seek some permanent cure to the problem. As you are already 40...there should not be need for menstruation( the menopause has already at doors ), you may be offered treatment like endometrial ablasion/ hysterectomy instead of taking medication like Sevista continuously. Thanks.
